What is CPAP and how does it work?
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy is the gold standard for treatment of sleep apnea. A CPAP machine produces positive airway pressure (PAP) through a hose and nasal or oronasal mask into the airway, preventing the airway from collapsing (or closing).
Who would benefit from CPAP?
Those who are diagnosed with sleep apnea, specifically obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
What is sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder in which the airway collapses during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common form of sleep apnea. It occurs when there is partial or complete obstruction of the airway, allowing for a pause in breathing.
Cerebra does not sell CPAP equipment, however, if it is indicated on your reports that you could have sleep apnea, we can help get you in touch with a CPAP provider.
